Dengan pikiran ini, ia pergi ke ruang makan untuk pertama kali dan memesan makanan dalam jumlah yang cukup banyak. Ia melahap semua makanan itu, memesan lagi, dan dia makan sekenyang-kenyangnya setelah selama dua minggu tidak makan! Dia siap menerima hukuman. Kemudian ia memanggil si pelayan sambil berkata, :Tolong bawakan rekeningnya kemari.” Si pelayan melongo bertanya, “Rekening apa, Tuan?”
“Ya, rekening untuk semua makanan yang sudah kumakan,” jawab si pemuda. Tuan sudah membayar semua makanan Tuan pada saat Tuan mambayar tiket kapal,” jawab si pelayan. Si pemuda itu hampir mati kelaparan, padahal dia sudah membayar makanan yang dibutuhkannya.
Banyak orang Kristen seperti sang pemuda itu. Mereka memperoleh satu tiket ke sorga oleh iman kepada Kristus. Mereka mengira bawa tiket itu hanya berisi suatu keselamatan rohani. Namun, sebenarnya dalam tiket itu juga terdapat suatu janji akan pemeliharaan Tuhan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari kita.
