[AkhirZaman.org] Wolverine (sigung) ditemukan di hutan dan pegunungan terpencil dari Alaska hingga Siberia. Gempal dan berotot dengan rambut coklat mengkilap dan garis-garis kuning kusam di sepanjang sisinya, sigung dewasa berukuran sebesar anjing sedang dan sekilas terlihat seperti persilangan antara beruang kecil dan musang.

Diketahui bahwa sigung mengeluarkan bau yang sangat kuat dan tidak sedap, sehingga menimbulkan julukan “beruang sigung” dan “kucing jahat”. Terlepas dari namanya, sigung tidak terkait dengan serigala, melainkan musang.

Sigung dapat berlari hingga 30 mph, memanjat pohon, dan berenang. Sigung juga sangat kuat karena ukurannya yang sederhana dari pon demi pon, dianggap sebagai salah satu mamalia paling ganas.

Telah diketahui bisa membunuh mangsa sebesar rusa dan bahkan rusa besar. Selain itu, ia dapat mengusir puma, beruang grizzly, dan serigala dari pembunuhannya. Terlepas dari keganasannya, ia dikenal sangat pemalu dan jarang terlihat.

Nama Latin untuk Sigung adalah Gulo dan berarti “rakus”. Sigung sesuai namanya gulo, Ia akan memakan apa saja yang dapat ditemukan atau dibunuh. Selain berburu, ia akan sering menemukan bangkai yang ditinggalkan oleh predator lain, bahkan terkadang mencuri hasil tangkapan predator lain.

Setelah memakan beberapa kilogram daging, sigung akan mengubur sisa-sisanya. Kemudian lebih jauh melindungi penimbunannya dengan menyemprotnya dengan aroma bau untuk menjauhkan hewan lain.

Dalam pencarian makanan yang tak ada habisnya, para jantan mungkin berkeliling lebih dari 240 mil persegi, melakukan perjalanan 40 mil sehari untuk memuaskan nafsu makan mereka yang rakus. Aman untuk mengatakan Sigung hidup untuk makan.

Ada juga banyak manusia yang bergumul dengan kecenderungan yang sama! Beberapa orang merasa heran bahwa Tuhan peduli mengenai sesuatu yang mendasar seperti kebiasaan makan kita, namun Firman Tuhan berbicara banyak mengenai topik ini.

Salomo memperingatkan bahwa “pemabuk dan orang rakus akan jatuh miskin,” sementara Paulus menasihati kita untuk makan dan minum “untuk kemuliaan Allah” (Amsal 23:21; I Korintus 10:31). Kita semua akan jauh lebih sehat jika kita mengikuti saran raja yang bijaksana untuk makan untuk kekuatan dan bukan secara gelojoh kasarnya rakus!
