[AkhirZaman.org] Koalisi Arab Saudi meluncurkan serangan udara ke Bandara Sanaa, Yaman, yang menjadi basis angkatan udara kelompok pemberontak Houthi pada Rabu (1/5) malam.
Mengutip juru bicara koalisi, Turki al-Maliki, kantor berita Saudi, SPA, melaporkan serangan udara itu menargetkan situs sistem komunikasi dan lokasi operator pesawat nirawak atau drone milik Houthi.
“Teroris, militan Houthi yang didukung Iran telah mengubah Bandara Sanaa menjadi basis militer dan tempat meluncurkan drone untuk melakukan serangan teroris yang mengancam keamanan regional dan internasional,” tutur al-Maliki pada Rabu (1/5).
Al-Maliki menegaskan serangan itu legal dan sesuai hukum kemanusiaan internasional.
Stasiun televisi Al Masirah yang dikontrol Houthi melaporkan sebanyak 13 serangan udara menargetkan pangkalan udara al-Dulaimi di Sanaa.
Seorang warga di dekat bandara mengatakan kepada Reuters ledakan mengguncang utara kota Sanaa, di mana bandara dan basis militer terletak.
Arab Saudi bersama Uni Emirat Arab dan sejumlah negara lainnya telah berperang di Yaman sejak Maret 2015 untuk membantu pemerintah setempat mengusir pemberontak Houthi.
Sejak melakukan perlawanan, Houthi mengendalikan sebagian besar wilayah di utara Yaman, termasuk Ibu Kota Sanaa.
Perang terus menghancurkan infrastruktur Yaman dan menyebabkan sebagian besar penduduknya menderita kelaparan.
Hingga akhir 2018, Perserikatan Bangsa-Bangsa (PBB) mencatat 56 ribu orang tewas dalam perang sipil di Yaman tersebut.
