Sepuluh hari setelah Kenaikan, hal itu terjadi. Setiap orang menunggu bersama, penasaran apa yang akan terjadi. Lalu tiba-tiba, ada sebuah suara dan hembusan angin yang kuat. Dan nampak lidah-lidah api kecil berada di atas kepala murid-murid!
Semua orang dipenuhi dengan sukacita dan kegembiraan. Roh Kudus datang! Para murid tidak menunggu lagi untuk membagikan kabar mengenai Yesus kepada setiap orang yang ada disekitar mereka. Dan hal luar biasa yang lain terjadi. Ada banyak orang sedang mengunjungi Yerusalem, dari beberapa daerah. Mereka berbicara dengan banyak bahasa berbeda, tapi ketika murid-murid mulai berbicara, setiap orang dapat mengerti dengan bahasa mereka masing-masing.
Tanpa belajar ataupun mengikuti kelas-kelas, mereka dapat berbicara dalam semua ragam bahasa. Beberapa orang merasa ragu, lalu mengatakan bahwa mereka sedang mabuk. Petrus berbicara kepada khalayak ramai dan memberi tahu mereka apa yang sedang terjadi, mengutip ayat Alkitab dan mengingatkan mereka bahwa nubuatan-nubuatan telah berbicara mengenai peristiwa-peritiwa ini. Banyak orang percaya, dan menjadi tahu tentang Yesus. Faktanya, beberapa orang berkata ini adalah “hari kelahiran” dari jemaat mula-mula. Setelah peristiwa ini, orang-orang mulai berkumpul satu dengan yang lain dan saling berbagi, menyebarkan Injil kabar baik ke seluruh dunia!
Dan hal itu tidak berhenti di situ. Kabar besar mengenai kisah Pentakosta ini adalah kita, juga, bisa memiliki kekuatan itu dari Roh Kudus. Tuhan tinggal di antara kita sehingga semua yang percaya pada-Nya dapat menerima roh dari Yesus. Tugas kita adalah untuk tetap menyebarkan kabar baik, dan tetap mengasihi orang lain.
Kita mungkin tidak memiliki api di atas kepala kita atau berbicara dalam bahasa yang berbeda-beda, tapi kita dapat memperingati jemaat mula-mula dan bagaimana Tuhan bekerja melalui itu. Gereja atau jemaat bukan hanya sebuah gedung atau sebuah pelayanan ibadah… Itu adalah tubuh Kristus, yang dipanggil untuk melakukan pekerjaan-Nya di dunia.
Kita dapat mengasihi orang lain dan memancarkan terang Yesus di sekitar kita. Kita bisa menjadi berkobar-kobar untuk Dia dalam hati kita, dan membicarakan hal itu dalam kehidupan kita.
