[AkhirZaman.Org] Pria yang pemegang rekor dunia Olimpiade terbanyak dalam renang adalah Michael Phelps. Dijuluki “Baltimore Bullet” dan “Flying Fish,” dia adalah atlet Olimpiade yang paling banyak mendapat penghargaan dengan 22 medali. 

Michael adalah atlet Olimpiade empat kali dan juga telah memenangkan 33 medali LCM World Champs. Faktanya, di Olimpiade Musim Panas 2012 di London, Phelps memenangkan empat medali emas dan dua medali perak, menjadikannya atlet Olimpiade paling sukses untuk Olimpiade ketiga berturut-turut! 

Phelps mendirikan Yayasan Michael Phelps untuk meningkatkan kesadaran akan olahraga renang dan juga untuk mempromosikan gaya hidup yang lebih sehat.

Namun salah satu kemenangan terbesar dari daya tahan dipegang oleh Benoit Lecomte, yang merupakan orang pertama yang berenang melintasi Samudera Atlantik tanpa kickboard! Pada 16 Juli 1998, ia berangkat dari Cape Cod dengan delapan pakaian selam, snorkel, dan beberapa sirip.

Dia dipandu melintasi lautan oleh tiga pelaut Prancis dengan perahu layar setinggi 40 kaki. Perahu juga menggantungkan sangkar besar dengan medan gaya elektronik di atas Benoit untuk melindunginya dari hiu. Namun, dia masih bertemu penyu, lumba-lumba, dan ubur-ubur. Dan selama lima hari dia diikuti oleh hiu putih besar!

Lecomte berenang enam sampai delapan jam sehari melalui 3.736 mil laut gelombang tanpa henti. Dia berhenti untuk perbaikan peralatan dan beristirahat selama satu minggu di Kepulauan Azores. Tujuh puluh dua hari setelah memulai perjalanan epiknya, dia berenang ke darat, kelelahan tetapi heroik, di Prancis. Lecomte sekarang mempertimbangkan untuk berenang melintasi Samudra Pasifik dari Jepang ke California. 
 
Apa yang bisa membuat seorang pria berenang menyeberangi lautan? Cinta. Ketika ayah Benoit meninggal karena kanker usus besar pada tahun 1992, hal itu mendorongnya untuk melakukan sesuatu yang luar biasa untuk meningkatkan kesadaran dan uang untuk penelitian kanker.

Alkitab mengatakan orang lain menyeberangi lautan, maupun ruang angkasa untuk alasan yang sama. Paulus menantang Anda untuk memiliki pola pikir yang sama dengan Kristus.

Kristus perperan serta dalam sebuah peristiwa yang merenggut nyawa-Nya. Dia membawa tujuan-Nya  untuk menyelamatkan Anda.
