Rickey Waggoner, sopir bus berusia 49 tahun, harus menghentikan busnya untuk memperbaiki kerusakan. Dia lalu melihat tiga orang mendekatinya. Salah satu dari mereka tiba-tiba mengeluarkan pistol lalu menembak ke arah dia dua kali. Peluru dari pistol itu menghantam dadanya dari jarak dekat. Mereka rupanya anggota gang di daerah itu.
Tapi Waggoner menyimpan sebuah Alkitab di saku bajunya. Peluru tadi rupanya mengenai Alkitab itu dan tidak sampai menembus kulit tubuhnya, seperti dikutip Dayton Daily News dan dilansir surat kabarthe Washington Times, Selasa (25/2).
“Tampaknya ada pihak tertentu terlibat dalam peristiwa ini karena Waggoner seharusnya sudah tiada,” kata Sersan Polisi Michael Pauley kepada Dayton Daily News.
Penulis Alkitab versi “Sang Wahyu” yang tersimpan di saku baju Waggoner yakni Eugene Peterson mengaku kejadian itu adalah sebuah mukjizat.
“Sungguh luar biasa. Saya sering mendengar cerita serupa pada Perang Dunia Pertama. Saya senang jadi bagian dari mukjizat seperti itu,” kata dia.

Alkitab…buku yang bukan sembarangan buku, karena Alkitab adalah firman Tuhan yang menuntun kita kepada hidup yang kekal. Dan Tuhan-lah perlindungan bagi orang yang tulus yang mencari-Nya.
