[AkhirZaman.org] Kapal induk Amerika Serikat USS Nimitz melakukan latihan gabungan bersama kapal Angkatan Laut India di Selat Malaka. Manuver ini terjadi ketika dua negara itu bersitegang dengan China.

Sebelumnya dua kapal induk USS Nimitz yang ditemani USS Ronald Reagan melakukan latihan tempur di Laut China Selatan pada Jumat (17/7).
Kedua kapal akan melakukan latihan lintas di dekat pulau untuk meningkatkan interoperabilitas antar Angkatan Laut.
“Nimitz Carrier Strike Group transit melalui IOR (Samudra Hindia ). Selama perjalanan, unit #IndianNavy melakukan Passage Exercise (PASSEX) dengan #USNavy,” tulis Juru Bicara Angkatan Laut India lewat Twitter, (20/7).
Angkatan Laut India juga telah melakukan latihan serupa dengan Angkatan Laut Jepang dan Prancis.
India saat ini terlibat konfrontasi dengan China di perbatasan Himalaya.
Tentara China dan India sempat terlibat bentrokan pada 15 Juni lalu di lembah Galwan di Ladakh. Dalam bentrokan tersebut, India mengatakan 20 pasukannya tewas, sementara China tidak mengungkap adanya korban jiwa.
India dan China dikabarkan terus saling mengerahkan sejumlah pesawat nirawak atau drone untuk bersiaga di Lembah Galwan, perbatasan di dekat Himalaya yang menjadi sengketa kedua negara.
Pengerahan drone-drone ini dilakukan meski kedua negara tengah berdialog menyelesaikan sengketa.
Latihan ini juga terjadi di tengah meningkatnya ketegangan di Laut China Selatan. Angkatan Laut AS baru saja melakukan latihan militer yang melibatkan USS Nimitz dan USS Ronald Reagan.
